Boulevard Crossing Park existing conditions
Take one part industrial greyfield, one part invasive kudzu “farm” and one part utility scale transmission line. Mix in economic and recreational investment from the Atlanta Beltline, Inc. (ABI) and the creative design team led by Agency Landscape Planning and Perkins + Will, and you get Boulevard Crossing Park, that promises to break barriers and create positive community benefits.
ABI, a visionary organization devoted to the sustainable development of a linked urban trail and neighborhood park systems for the City of Atlanta, has also committed to Sustainable SITES certification and registered the project with the Sustainable SITES Initiative. This is ABI’s second SITES project.
Studioverde has been on the forefront of supporting ABI’s mission to do more than talk and actually demonstrate sustainable park development. This includes a highly public collaborative process, the organization of an Integrated Design Team (IDT) involved in the project throughout, and attention to environmental problems such as the removal of invasive plants, stormwater treatment and infiltration and water conservation.

The Integrated Design Team site visit prior to the SITES workshop
Studioverde has made the SITES certification process easy for ABI, the City of Atlanta Parks Department and the IDT to integrate into their design process. We started with a collaborative pre-design assessment workshop that brought together each design discipline and guided them through a process that encouraged cross pollination and creative problem solving.
