
Glendale Regional Park which is pursuing SITES Gold certification showcases important principles of sustainable park development and protecting community health and welfare. Located amidst extensive commercial development, the Park will restore native habitat, with each element carefully designed to enhance public understanding and engagement with conservation practices.
In alignment with Salt Lake City’s mission to protect the environment through cost conscious practices, Glendale Regional Park includes green infrastructure elements – rain gardens, bioswales, native vegetation – designed to mitigate stormwater runoff, promote groundwater recharge, and reduce reliance on irrigation.
Other sustainability features include:
• 100% of project electricity will be provided by the Salt Lake City Elektron Solar Project
• 84% reduction in water use for irrigation
• Over 21, 000 tons of construction waste was diverted from disposal in a landfill.
